I can say for certain what I am writing is truth because it is Biblical and my own experience has proven it. If you want your life to run smoothly read this short essay.
These are not salvation issues. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and repented of your sins you will be in Heaven. Period. Repentance does not mean you will never sin again. Clearly we all stumble. But how successful your repentance life is will no doubt determine how smooth your life is going to be. It is a truth you must face and once you clearly and firmly face this truth head on you can start to sharpen how successful your repentance life will be and how smooth your life here on earth is going to be. Rationalizing sin for any reason is not going to cut it no matter how justified you believe the sin might be.
Proverbs 26:5 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
The above proverb says it all. God is just not going to grant many desires you ask of him in prayer if you continue in foolishness. This is for your own good. Rewarding sin promotes more sin.
Visual stimulation is rampant in our society. If you are struggling and asking God for forgiveness rest assured God forgives you. But here is reality:
Proverbs 29:3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
The above proverb encompasses many situations including visual stimulation. God is just not going to reward certain behavior and will remove many, many blessings including financial blessings for certain behavior. This is a fact that must be faced.
God will place limits or boundaries during your struggle with sin. Be very grateful for this. While you are working to overcome a sin, and you will overcome it, stay within the limits God has set within this particular sin. I call this obedience during disobedience. If you stray outside of these boundaries go out of your way and provide charity in some way that is only between you and God. Drop off food to a food pantry, etc. but don’t tell anyone. God knows.
Proverbs 21:14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
The enemy has the ability to tempt everybody. If you decide to entertain these temptations and give in to sin the enemy will destroy other parts of your life by dropping thoughts like feelings of being unworthy, not loved, worthless, and on and on. These thoughts are not from God and have no power unless you are in the habit of listening to the enemy during temptation. This is the heart of the whole matter. If you do not entertain these temptations the enemy will not have the power to destroy your life. It is that simple. The enemy has the ear of God. God will guide you but you must turn away from sin.
Proverbs 27:11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Some may say they have seen or know people who are steeped in sin but seemingly living a prosperous, care free life. Consider the following:
Proverbs 21:12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for the their wickedness.
If you are a Christian and God is withholding blessing because of your sin be very, very grateful. Sin will have to be answered for one way or the other. Hardship often brings the repentance issue to the forefront in your life.
A lie from the enemy that is very successful at times is whether God somehow views you and treats you differently than others. That somehow you are being punished more than others simply because of who you are. This is very arrogant and simply not true. To believe you are somehow different and God is treating you differently is a lie.
Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojouring here in fear.
